Birmingham City sign Scott Dann

Birmingham City have signed Coventry City skipper Scott Dann for a fee of £4m. Blues came up with an only cash offer after having a cash+ player bid ( Gary McSheffrey moving the other) rejected by the Sky Blues.

Wolverhampton Wanderers also meet City’s asking price for Dann, and the defender was said to have preferred a move to Molineux over St.Andrew’s, but Birmingham came up with improved personal terms at the last minute, and managed to lure Dann to St.Andrew’s.

The 22 year old centre half joined Coventry from Walsall in June 2008 for an undisclosed fee. He has also made two appearances for the national U-21 side.

The fee of £4m that McLeish has spent to bring Dann to St.Andrew’s is reportedly the club’s record transfer fee for a defender.
