Wigan Athletic have been quick to reject an improved offer from Birmingham City for their left midfielder Charles N’Zogbia. Birmingham had initially tabled a £6m offer for the Frenchman which was rejected. An improved offer of £8m was made but Wigan came out insisting that N’Zogbia was not for sale at any price. Wigan chairman Dave Whelan even went to the extent of saying that Birmingham were ‘wasting everyone’s time’ with their pursuit of N’Zogbia.Wigan had signed N’Zogbia from Newcastle in 2009 for £6 million. He has made 48 appearances for Wigan scoring once every eight games.
Birmingham are also interested in Celtic winger Aidan McGeady. With McLeish deciding to extend his contract with the St.Andrews’ outfit, he has been given a considerable amount to spend. The Blues are locked in a £6million bidding war with Spartak Moscow for McGeady.
Birmingham have already signed United’s goalkeeper Ben Foster for £6million and have had bids for Carlton Cole and Paul Konchesky rejected by West Ham and Fulham respectively.
