Sunderland manager Martin O’Neill has revealed the club have rejected offers from abroad for South Korean attacker Dong Ji-Won. Ji has been used sparingly at the Stadium of Light this season and O’Neill told the Sunderland Echo that loads of clubs from abroad had evinced interest in taking him on loan till the summer.
However O’Neill added that he had no intention of letting Ji leave as he aims to help Sunderland finish strongly in the Premier League. Sunderland’s fortunes have seen a sharp improvement since O’Neill taking over from Steve Bruce and they even upset current leaders Manchester City 1-0, with Ji scoring a second half injury time winner.
