Both Everton and Sunderland are set to have a tug of war this summer over young Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck. Everton boss David Moyes wants to sign Welbeck on loan to bolster his striking options but Black Cats boss Steve Bruce has been impressed enough by Welbeck’s stay on Wearside last season to want to re-sign him.
Sir Alex Ferguson is yet to decide whether to keep Welbeck at Old Trafford or to send him out on loan to garner valuable first team experience. Should Dimitar Berbatov continue his stay in Manchester, United will still have all four of their strikers from last season, which may hinder Welbeck’s chances of first team football.
For the time being though, Welbeck is expected to go on United’s pre-season tour of the United States till Ferguson takes a decision on his future.
