Blackburn Rovers have completed the signing of Turkish international midfielder Yildiray Basturk from Stuttgart until the end of the season. The 31 year-old had fallen out of favour at the Bundesliga side and he felt a move to Rovers would mean more first team opportunities.
Rovers boss Sam Allardyce felt that he needed more creativity in his side and he will now turn his attentions to signing a new striker ahead of the transfer window shutting next week. The midfield ace hasn’t signed in time to play against Wigan tonight but will probably make his debut against West Ham on Saturday.
Basturk came to prominence at Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen before moving on and signing for Stuttgart. Basturk revealed that former Blackburn midfielder Tugay persuaded him to make the move to Rovers. Tugay was a former international teammate and also friend of Basturk.
Basturk told the clubs official website: “I had contact with Blackburn for three months and I spoke to Tugay and he said it is a very good club and to come here and try the last few years,”
“I played about 50 games for the national team with Tugay and he always told me how good a club Blackburn is.”
