Newly promoted Premier League side Blackpool have had a £500,000 bid accepted for Manchester United defender Craig Cathcart. Blackpool failed with a £350,000 bid for the 21-year old last week, but an improved bid has been accepted by United for a player who is not deemed close enough to break into the first team at United. Cathcart, who has played on loan at Watford and Plymouth is expected to be blooded right into Blackpool’s battle for Premier League survival. The Northern Ireland international has been at United since the age of 14 but hasn’t made a single appearance for the Red Devils.
Along with Cathcart, Holloway is close to sealing deals for Swansea’s Angel Rangel and Derby’s Rob Hulse. Holloway also intends to continue his pursuit of Leicester’s DJ Campbell and will make an improved offer for the lad who had a brief stint in the top division with Birmingham City.
Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston said: ‘Various deals are being accepted and players are having medicals so with a bit of luck there will be one or two additions.’
