Spanish giants Barcelona have officially confirmed the signing of Ferran Torres from Manchester City. The Blaugrana will pay a transfer fee of 55 million euros, with a further 10 million in add-ons. Torres has signed a deal that will keep him at the Nou Camp till the summer of 2027. He also has a release clause of 1 billion euros in his contract.
Torres had joined City from Valencia in the summer of 2020 and made 43 appearances across all competitions for the Manchester outfit, scoring 16 goals in the process. He made his debut for Spain just days after signing for City and was part of their Euro 2020 squad. Spain reached the semi-finals of the tournament before losing to eventual winners Italy.
Torres’ last appearance for City was back in September- he has been out of action since with a foot injury picked up on international duty. Barcelona have said his recovery is progressing well and fans are expected to see the youngster debut in the Blaugrana’s Copa del Rey clash against Linares.
Barcelona have struggled in La Liga this season- they’re 7th in the table at the time of writing, and Torres’ signing is viewed as part of a major rebuilding phase at the Nou Camp by new manager Xavi Hernandez.
