Cardiff City have completed the signing of Aron Gunnarsson on a free transfer. The Icelandic midfielder was available on a Bosman after failing to agree new terms with Coventry City and becomes the Bluebirds’ fifth signing of the summer after Craig Conway, Don Cowie, Andrew Taylor and Robert Earnshaw. Gunnarsson has put pen to paper a three year contract with Cardiff.
Gunnarsson had joined Coventry from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in 2008. Several European clubs were interested in securing his signature after his deal with Coventry expired but the midfielder decided to stay in England and join Cardiff, who lost in the Championship playoff semifinals to Reading.
Bluebirds boss Malky McKay is also working on the acquisitions of Joe Mason, David Goodwillie and Alexei Eremenko Jr.
