Birmingham City have completed the signing of Danish striker Peter Lovenkrands. The experienced forward has put pen to paper a two year contract at the Midlands outfit. Lovenkrands was a free agent after being released by Newcastle United earlier this summer and becomes new Blues manager Lee Clark’s first signing of the current summer window.
Clark’s predecessors, Alex McLeish and Chris Houghton, had both tried to persuade Lovenkrands to sign for Blues, but were unsuccessful in his attempts. Birmingham were under a transfer embargo for late submission of their accounts and it was lifted only last Wednesday.
Lovenkrands, who missed out on Denmark’s Euro 2012 squad, has an option for a year’s extension in his two year contract.
