Bolton have completed the double transfer of Hull defender Sam Ricketts and Aston Villa defender Zat Knight for undisclosed fees. The pair have signed three-year deals at the Reebok Stadium and manager Gary Megson is delighted to sign the duo.
The Bolton chief told their official website: “We are really pleased that we could complete the deals. Both players had other offers to consider.
“I am sure that they will fit in to the squad and we are going to make sure that we help them with their new challenge.
“Zat has plenty of Premier League experience and has played at the highest level with England, while Sam personally had a successful debut Premier League campaign with Hull.”
Knight joined Villa from Fulham for £3.5million in 2007 but has struggled to hold down a regular first team place at Villa Park, although during his time at Craven Cottage the giant centre back made enough of an impression to win an England call-up.
Welsh international full back Ricketts impressed last season in Hull’s first season in the Premier League and made 27 appearances for the Tigers. Bolton have already completed the transfers of Portsmouth midfielder Sean Davis on a free transfer and West Brom full back Paul Robinson on a season-long loan.
