Bordeaux sign Plasil and chase on for ‘new Zidane’

After selling 20-year old versatile attacker Gabriel Obertan to Manchester United, Bordeaux have moved quickly in the transfer market and signed experienced Czech midfielder Jaroslav Plasil. He joins the French club on a four year contract from Osasuna for an undisclosed amonunt. The 27-year-old Plasil has 44 international caps. He played for AS Monaco from 2001 to 2007 before joining Osasuna in 2008. He became Bordeaux’s third signing of the close season. Bordeaux have already signed Youann Gourcuff from AC Milan and Toulose goalkeeper Cedric Carrasso.

According to reports doing rounds in Europe, all top teams are scouting Grenoble 38’s 19-year-old midfielder Sofiane Feghouli. Feghouli, dubbed as the ‘new Zidane’ is already being watched by scouts of Arsenal, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea and Liverpool. Feghouli made his Under 21  debut at the age of 18 and hasn’t looked back since. During his progress he has helped his minnow club get promotion into the top tier and has cemented their place there with a mid table finish in their first season.

Major European teams will be encouraged to bid after Grenoble 38 General Director Pierre Wantiez’s comments –

Today Feghouli is the only one who could move on. He has expressed the desire to embark on a new challenge and that is the moment for him.

“If a reasonable offer is made, then we will see. But movements on the market will start later than usually because of the crisis.”
