Middlesbrough have reached an agreement with Doncaster Rovers for the transfer of George Friend. The defender is currently in talks with the North-East outfit over a move to the Riverside. Neither Doncaster nor Boro will willing to disclose the exact amount involved, but sources report it to be a six figure sum.
Doncaster manager Dean Saunders said he didn’t want to let Friend go but he had to sell players before bringing in new players. He added that several others club apart from Boro were also interested in securing the defender’s services.
Friend joined Doncaster from Wolves two years ago and has also spent time at Exeter, Millwall, Southend United and Scunthorpe United.
