Former-Senegalese international midfielder Papa Bouba Diop is training with Championship club Birmingham City. The veteran ace who earned the nickname the ‘wardrobe’ in his days at Fulham, because of his big build, was released by West Ham in the summer.
Diop had played just 14 times for the Irons, after moving to East London on a free transfer from AEK Athens in 2011. Diop has spent a lot of time in English football having appeared for Portsmouth, as well as Fulham and West Ham.
Diop was a teammate of Blues boss Lee Clark in his playing days at Craven Cottage and is believed to be a big admirer of the defensive midfielder. Birmingham is looking to strengthen their squad, after a 5-0 home defeat to Barnsley last weekend.
Bouba Diop would add some much needed steel to the Blues midfield and should he sign a permanent deal he could be a good squad player for City.
