Brazilian left-back Andre Santos has left Arsenal to return home to Gremio on-loan until the end of the season. The Brazilian international has struggled to cement a regular starting place in the Gunners line-up.
Santos has been criticised for his defensive abilities and his lack of match fitness and many Gunners fans have questioned his ability to play in the British top flight. Arsenal paid Turkish club Fenerbahce around £5million in August 2011 for the 29 year-old and he is considered a flop.
The full-back’s attacking ability initially impressed for the Gunners, but his defensive ineptitudes were soon horrible exposed. In recent months he has become just a squad player for the Gunners, as he has fallen down the pecking order.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is interested in signing Santos’ young compatriot Indio from Vasco da Gama. The teenager is set for a trial period with the club and he is hoping to impress in his short spell in north London.
The young midfielder is hoping to impress enough to earn himself a big move to Europe. He is currently considered one of the brightest young prospects in Brazilian youth football. If Arsenal do sign Indio then Arsenal fans will be hoping that he makes a more positive impression than Santos has at the club.
