If reports from Germany are to be believed, Bayer Leverkusen are said to be very interested in signing young Manchester United left back Brandon Williams during the winter transfer window. Williams has struggled for game time this season with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer preferring Luke Shaw and new signing Alex Telles at left back.
However, while Leverkusen want a permanent switch for the 20-year-old to the Bay Arena, United are reportedly only prepared to send him on a loan deal. Despite making 36 appearances across all competitions last season, Williams has played only six minutes of league football in the current 20/21 campaign.
With Premier League youngsters like Jadon Sancho, Jude Bellingham and co. thriving in the Bundesliga, Williams may well be open to the idea of a switch to the German top flight to further his career. Leverkusen have started the season well, and are currently second in the table behind Bayern Munich.
The Werkself would’ve potentially been top of the log heading into Christmas but for a bad error from defender Jonathan Tah in the final minutes of their weekend game against Bayern that gifted Robert Lewandowski the match winning goal. They will play Eintracht Frankfurt in their first game after the winter break.
