Burnley have completed the signing of Sam Vokes from league rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers. The 22 year old Vokes spent time on loan at Burnley last season and impressed the Clarets sufficiently for them to launch a bid for his services in the summer window. The Turf Moor outfit have paid an undisclosed fee to secure his services and the forward has signed a three year contract with the club.
One perceived reason for Vokes’ transfer to Turf Moor despite interest from several other Championship clubs could be the presence of manager Eddie Howe, who gave the youngster his first break at Bournemouth. Vokes has plenty of lower league experience, having previously represented the likes of Leeds, Bristol City, Sheffield United and Norwich on loan.
