After falling way behind in the pecking order at Manchester City, Felipe Caicedo is close to agreeing a season-long loan deal at West Ham United. The 21-year old strong Ecuadorian striker is likely to be left out of Mancini’s 25-member squad for the coming season. West Ham manager Avram Grant made an approach for Caicedo after unsuccessful attempts to sign Loic Remy, Yakubu and Neymar. West Ham are actively looking to introduce a first refusal clause in his loan contract to sign the player on a permanent basis if he impresses during the loan spell.
Caicedo joined City during the tenure of Sven-Goran Eriksson. But he could not cut it during Mark Hughes’ time as manager of City. He has made only 18 appearances for City scoring on only four occasions. He spent the first half of last season on loan at Sporting Lisbon where he played just seven times without scoring. He spent the second half of last season at Malaga in Spain.
