League one side Carlisle United have signed Manchester City youngster Adam Clayton on a loan deal till January. The 20 year-old hasn’t appeared for City’s first team yet but is highly rated at Eastlands. He was part of the England under-20 that went to the World Cup recently.
The loan move provides a perfect opportunity for the youngster to pick up some much needed first team experience. Greg Abbott is expecting the youngster to make a big impact at the League One side.
Abbott told the clubs official website: “We’re really looking forward to working with him,”
“He was on the brink of the first team last season but, with the arrival of the likes of Robinho and Gareth Barry, it has become very competitive. City have been fantastic with us and they see this as an opportunity for their player to come in and help us, by giving us some depth in a key position.
“He is very similar to Paul Thirlwell in the way that he plays, and he definitely isn’t shy when it comes to putting a tackle in. He also has a good range of passing, and we think he will fit in nicely with the way that we want to do things.”
