Brazilian custodian Diego Cavalieri is looking for a move away from Anfield after failing to make even a single appearance for the Reds in the Barclays Premier League since signing for them in 2008. The 27-year old signed for Liverpool from Palmeiras where he had made only 65 appearances over a period of seven years. He has not been able to dislodge Pepe Reina from the goalkeeper’s slot and is looking for clubs in his native country to offer him an escape route.
Santos and Corinthians have shown interest in him after their efforts to sign the 36-year old Dida from AC Milan bore no fruit. Both clubs want to sign Cavalieri on a free. But with two years still left on his contract; the situation has become sticky. Cash strapped Liverpool could be forced to release him on a free half way through his contract. The alternative of a loan deal can’t be completely ruled out as well.
