Middlesbrough have completed the signing of defender Stephen McManus from Scottish giants Celtic. Boro have paid the Hoops £1.5m for McManus’ services and the 27 year old has moved to the Riverside on a three year contract.
McManus becomes Boro boss Gordon Strachan’s fourth acquisition of the summer after Kris Boyd, Nicky Bailey and Andrew Halliday.
McManus joins a growing list of former SPL stars at Teesside that already includes Scott McDonald, Barry Robson, Willo Flood and Chris Killen and the recently signed Boyd.
The move reunites McManus with former Celtic boss Strachan, who was in charge of the Hoops between 2005 and 2009.
