According to reports in Scotland, Celtic could make another attempt to sign Spurs midfielder Victor Wanyama in January. The Kenyan star was hugely popular at Parkhead during his two year stint with the Scottish champions before moving down south to the Premier League, and Hoops boss Neil Lennon admitted that his club had been interested in the 28 year old in the summer, and might try again in the winter window.
Wanyama, who became the first Kenyan player to score in the Champions League while playing for Celtic against Barcelona, is yet to play a single minute for Tottenham in the current 19/20 Premier League season.
Belgian outfit Brugge were keen on signing Wanyama in the recently concluded summer window and had even agreed a £13m fee that would’ve made him the club’s record signing, but the deal did not materialize, and they ended up going for Basel’s Eder Balanta instead.
Wanyama is contracted to Tottenham till the summer of 2021. Despite his lack of first team minutes, he has been named in Spurs’ Champions League squad and has travelled with the Lilywhites to Athens for their group opener against Greek side Olympiacos.
