Manchester United are believed to be interested in signing former England centre-back Sol Campbell. The former Arsenal and Portsmouth star has just secured his release from League Two side Notts County after a very short spell at the club.
Campbell only played one game for the Magpies in that spell before deciding that it was the wrong move for him. Campbell has revealed he would be interested in a move to the champions if the opportunity arose. United are believed to be making a shock move for the 35 year-old in January to strengthen their injury-hit defence. Campbell is currently training with former club Arsenal as he looks to keep fit ahead of a January move.
“I have heard nothing officially from Manchester United, but there have been suggestions and of course, it would be a great move for me, if it happens,” Campbell told ESPN.
“I shall just have to wait and see if a call comes through the right channels. Of course I would love to play for Manchester United, but I am not counting any chickens, just waiting to see what happens. I am training as usual at Arsenal, and would go to train at Manchester United if I was asked.”
