The chase for Ricardo Alvarez has just got hotter after Palermo joined Arsenal and Malaga in the Velez starlet’s list of admirers. Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini officially admitted to Italian sports paper Corriere dello Sport that they were interested in acquiring the versatile Alvarez, who can play both as a midfielder and a second striker, but also said his chances of landing the lad were low because of stiff competition from both Arsenal and Malaga.
Alvarez is rated at more than £10million by Velez. The Italian duo of Inter and Roma are also interested while Andalusian outfit Sevilla are also keeping a close eye on proceedings.
Alvarez, 23, was in excellent form as he helped Velez lift the Argentine title last season and his performances for them have attracted a flurry of admirers across the Atlantic.
