Chelsea have reportedly hijacked Inter Milan’s bid for Marko Arnautovic by offering FC Twente £12m for their highly rated Austrian winger. Italian champions Inter Milan had earlier offered Twente £10m for Arnautovic, but the Nerazzurri were asked by Twente p[resident Joop Munsterman to come back with a better offer.
Arnautovic has been a revelation in this season’s Eredivisie and helped Twente to secure the runners up spot behind AZ Alkmaar.
Many clubs have shown interest in Arnautovic. Chelsea’s London rivals Fulham were one of them, but the Cottagers seem to have dropped out of the race after looking at the other clubs in the fray. Genoa, Manchester United and AS Roma are the among the other clubs keeping tabs on Arnautovic’s progress.
Inter are looking at Arnautovic as a replacement for Argentine striker Hernan Crespo.
Arnautovic has already spoken of his desire to join a club ” who will go a long way in next season’s Champions League”. With the success that English clubs have enjoyed in Europe’s premier club competition, it seems the young Austrian will be heading north to Stamford Bridge very soon.
