Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelloti is keeping track of Roma midfielder Danielle De Rossi after it has emerged that the Italian midfielder is get disillusioned at Roma’s increasing problems. Chelsea had targeted Pirlo and De Rossi in the summer but failed to entice either of them to Stamford Bridge.
Real Madrid were also interested in De Rossi, but the financially crippled Roma team rejected all bids for their hometown star and De Rossi even admitted that he would want to stay at the club for life. But things have gone awry at Roma after the start of the season.
Manager Luciano Spaletti resigned at the start of this month after defeats in the opening two Serie A matches of the season and the propsed takeover which was to ease Roma’s debts hasn’t materialised either. Roma haven’t been able to replace Alberto Aquilani, who moved on to Liverpool in the summer and a weakened team would be more reason for De Rossi to move to England.
Ironically, Chelsea have received a transfer ban till 2011. But they are confident that it would be reduced on appeal and hence making preparations to swoop for De Rossi.
