According to reports in English tabloids, Chelsea are poised to offer a stunning £38million plus Deco for Atletico Madrid’s Argentinian striker Sergio Aguero. Aguero, who is Maradona’s son in law has a £51 million buy out clause and Chelsea are hoping to trigger it using the cash plus player offer. Chelsea have targeted Aguero as part of a three-pronged assault on the transfer market that includes interest in Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery and AC Milan midfielder Andrea Pirlo.
Aguero is considered to be one of the rising stars in European football and has been a long term target of Barcelona and Real Madrid. Atletico have managed to strike up a very good partnership up front with Aguero and Forlan. But with Aguero set to move to a bigger club sooner or later, Atletico have started looking for replacements. The wages demanded by Kun Aguero may prove to be a stumbling block for any potential transfer. Both Manchester United and Chelsea have insisted that they would not be able to match Aguero’s £200,000 a week pay demands. Chelsea are also willing to offer Deco as a part exchange deal for Aguero.
Chelsea’s chances of landing Ribery or Pirlo are bleak too. Bayern are holding out for £68m for the French international while AC Milan have refused to play ball on the Pirlo deal. Chelsea have offered Claudio Pizzaro to Milan as part of the Pirlo deal but Milan are not interested in the swap offer.
