Premier League Chelsea are being linked with strengthening their central midfield this summer. Boss Jose Mourinho was only unveiled as Blues boss on Monday, but he is already believed to be looking at new faces.
One of those new signings is actually an old face to Chelsea, Benfica midfielder Nemanja Matic. The 24-year-old has impressed in Lisbon since joining the Portuguese club in 2011, after a move from Chelsea, where he made just two first team appearances.
The Serbian international believes that he will stay at the Estadio do Luz for another year, but Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Manchester United are also interested in acquiring the services of the midfielder.
Another midfielder being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge is Vitesse Arnhem youngster Marco van Ginkel. The 20-year-old is highly-rated and is currently away on international duty with the Holland squad at the under-21 European Championships.
Media reports suggest that a deal has already been agreed between Van Ginkel and Chelsea, but those reports are yet to be confirmed. The young central midfielder did admit that he liked the Premier League and stated that every young player wanted to play in the English top flight.
