Chelsea-academy graduate and young English starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi has made a loan move in search of more regular first team football to Bayer Leverkusen.
The player, who for a long time was of the interest of German titans Bayern Munich, signed a five-year deal at Chelsea in 2019. Hudson-Odoi has failed to however make a larger impact on the first team set up at Stamford Bridge, and has also suffered frequently with injuries.
Bayer Leverkusen ended last season’s Bundesliga campaign in third, and are in the group stages of this season’s Champions League. This loan move looks to provide Hudson-Odoi with high-quality European match experience for Chelsea’s seasons to come.
Chelsea turned down a £35 million pound bid for the player from Bayern Munich in 2019, just before the player secured a new contract.
Hudson-Odoi made 15 appearances last season in the Premier League, scoring in Chelsea’s 7-0 home rout of Norwich City. Chelsea have to the option to recall Hudson-Odoi in January 2023.
