Manchester City have completed the signing of goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon from Romanian outfit Politehnica Timisoara. The 24 year old has been signed by City manager Roberto Mancini as cover for No.1 keeper Joe Hart. Pantilimon is regarded very highly in his native Romania and impressed City scouts with his performances against the Eastlands outfit in the Europa League last season. He has already been capped at senior level by Romania and is expected to eventually take over the reins from the ageing Bogdan Lobont.
Man City were looking for reinforcements in the goalkeeping department following the sale of Irish No.1 Shay Given to Aston Villa and Pantilimon fit their requirements perfectly.
Pantilimon is expected to feature for Romania when they meet San Marino in an international friendly next week.
