Several Premier League clubs are expected to be involved in a dogfight to sign Shay Given after it emerged that the Republic of Ireland keeper is expected to leave Eastlands this summer. Given, 35, has been forced to play second fiddle to Joe Hart at City all season and wishes to play football on a more regular basis. He has been restricted to appearances in the Cups and the Europa League as Hart has cemented his place as No.1 for both club and country.
Both Arsenal and Tottenham, who have had problems with their respective keepers, are said to be very interested in Given. Liverpool might throw their hat into the ring if Pepe Reina decides to leave Anfield this summer. Celtic have also expressed an interest in signing Given, which might be an option for the Irish No.1 if City do not wish to sell him to any of their Premier League rivals.
