Chelsea reserve team defender Carl Magnay has joined Northampton Town on a one month loan deal. The 20 year old is a versatile player, with the ability to slot into both defence and midfield. Cobblers boss Stuart Gray said that his Magnay would give them some much need options in both defence and midfield. Gateshead born Magnay has also been called up to the Northern Ireland U-21 side by Steve Beaglehole.
Magnay, winner of the 2006 Football Icon contest, also had a spell at MK Dons in January 2009. He made two appearances for them before returning to Stamford Bridge.
Northampton are currently 17th in League One with 38 points.
