Croatian defender Verdan Corluka has been told that he does not have a future at White Hart Lane. Harry Redknapp has asked the 24-year old to find a new club. Corluka has made just four appearances for Tottenham this season. He is way below in the defensive pecking order with Alan Hutton chosen as the first choice right-back. Harry Redknapp is looking to trim down his wage bill, and Corluka could well be out of the club soon along with Robbie Keane.
Liverpool are interested in the Croatian defender. Damien Comolli, who was Tottenham’s director of football when Corluka signed for them is at Liverpool now. Corluka would provide adequate back-up for Glen Johnson in the right-back slot, and can also deputize at centre back. But the pace of the Serie A would suit Corluka better than the hustle of the Premier League. Juventus have placed him high on their wish-list, and a bid from the Turin giants could well see him move over to Italy.
Corluka was signed by Sven Goran Eriksson for Manchester City in 2008. He lasted just a solitary season at Eastlands before moving to London. He has managed to make 69 appearances for Harry Redknapp, but hasn’t really shown the quality needed to sustain oneself in a top-four side.
