Fulham have appointed Martin Jol as their new manager, thus marking the Dutchman’s return to management in England after a gap of four years. Jol last managed a Premier League team in the form of Tottenham Hotspur before moving to the continent to coach Hamburg and Ajax.
Jol was without a job since resigning as Ajax coach in December last year. The 56 year old has signed a two year contract with Fulham with a built in option for another year’s extension. The Londoners had wanted him to succeed Roy Hodgson last season itself but were forced to turn to Mark Hughes after Ajax refused to let their manager leave.
Fulham will be competing in Europe this season by virtue of their Fairplay Table standing.
