Sheffield United midfielder David Cotterill has joined Championship rivals Swansea City on loan until January. The Welsh international is expected to sign a three-year contract at the Liberty Stadium when his loan runs out. The 21 year-old is hoping to make a swift impact at the club.
The young midfielder has fallen down the pecking order at Bramall Lane. Cotterill started his career in promising fashion for Bristol City before winning a £2million move to Premier League Wigan Athletic. He failed to establish himself at the Latics and moved on to Sheffield United.
Cotterill revealed his happiness at the move by saying: “Swansea are probably the best footballing side in the Championship but they can also grind out a result as well if they have to. I watched them on Friday night against Derby and I was very impressed. Swansea passed it around for fun and Derby didn’t get a kick – they murdered them.
“They are playing attractive football at the moment and getting some great results. Hopefully I can fit into that straight away. I need to play and I like what I hear about Swansea and their ambition. They are in the play-off places at the moment and the way they are playing, then anything can happen.”
