Cresswell signs for Blades with Valencia chasing Liege ace

Sheffield United have completed the three-month loan signing of Stoke City striker Richard Cresswell. Cresswell has fallen down the pecking order at the Potters and has only started three games so far this season. City boss Tony Pulis was willing to let Cresswell leave as he feels he has enough cover for his strikers.

United are light up front after youngster Jamie Ward suffered an injury. The former Sheffield Wednesday ace signed in time to play the last 14 minutes of United’s 3-3 draw against Ipswich last night at Bramall Lane. He is much travelled having also played for Leicester and Preston.

Valencia are being linked with a move for Standard Liege striker Milan Jovanovic. Los Ches have been scouting the 28 year-old for some time but are now set to make a move for the Serbia international due to interest from Premier League Aston Villa.

Reports in Spain are suggesting that the striker will join the club at the start of the 2010/11 season. His contract expires in 2010 and they will be able to sign him on a free transfer. Jovanovic seemed to be open to the idea of a move saying: “If interest appears it is normal to study the offer and evaluate all the questions because I want to improve my career,”
