Sevilla have officially confirmed the signing of midfielder Thomas Delaney from Borussia Dortmund. The Danish international, a Euro 2020 semifinalist with his country, has swapped clubs for a reported 6-million-euro fee and has inked a four-year deal that will keep him at the Andalusian outfit till the summer of 2025.
The transfer also brings to an end Delaney’s near 5-year stay in the Bundesliga. He joined Werder Bremen from Copenhagen in his native Denmark and spent 1.5 seasons with them before linking up with Dortmund in the summer of 2018.
Delaney made 88 appearances for Dortmund in his stint at the Westfalenstadion and came off the bench in their 5-2 season opening win over Eintracht Frankfurt. He was however an unused substitute in both the DFL Super Cup loss to Bayern and the 2-1 reverse against Augsburg last week.
The midfielder is Sevilla’s sixth signing of the summer window after Marko Dmitrovic, Erik Lamela, Gonzalo Montiel, Ludwig Augustinsson and Rafa Mir- some pretty astute transfers from Rojiblancos sporting director Monchi.
Sevilla have started La Liga with two wins from as many games, beating both Rayo Vallecano and Getafe without conceding a single goal. They will be away at Elche this weekend.
