Darlington have completed the signing of Tadhg Purcell on loan from Northampton Town. The striker moves to the Quakers on a one month loan deal. The transfer marks the return of Purcell to Darlington, from whom he scored six times before sealing a switch to Northampton in the summer of 2010.
Purcell was however unable to make much of an impression at Northampton during the 2010/2011 season as his season was cut short due to injury. Cobblers boss Gary Johnson said that he had sanctioned the move to allow him to get some first team football under his belt after recovering from injury.
Purcell is best remembered for his time at Shamrock Rovers, making over a 100 appearances for the Irish giants between 2006 and 2009 before chosing to join Steve Staunton at Darlington.
