Manchester City midfielder Nigel De Jong has revealed that he has not been able to reach an agreement with the club regarding a new deal. Dutch midfielder De Jong, who moved to City two seasons ago from Hamburg, has two years to run on his contract at Eastlands but revealed to the People that talks over a new deal had simply “stopped”. De Jong added that the breakdown in contract talks was frustrating and said that he had hoped for a new deal prior to the start of the 11/12 season.
De Jong was one of City’s most consistent performers as they qualified for the Champions League and picked up the FA Cup last season. There have however been rumours going around that the Dutchman is surplus to Roberto Mancini’s requirements and will be shipped out in due course.
