Championship side Derby County have completed the loan signing of Hull midfielder Bryan Hughes with a view to a permanent transfer. The experienced midfielder has joined on a month’s loan to begin with and will be in their squad for the game against QPR this weekend. The former Charlton ace has made over 450 appearances at senior level.
The 33 year-old has been frozen out at the KC Stadium and hasn’t played for the Tigers since March. The Rams boss Nigel Clough has revealed his delight at adding the former Birmingham star to his squad. He told the clubs official website: “I’m delighted we have been able to secure Bryan’s services, he is player who brings vast experience to our squad. Everyone knows about our injury situation and when we looked at the list of available players Bryan’s name stood out.
“I would like to thank (Hull chairman) Paul Duffen and (manager) Phil Brown for agreeing to loan Bryan to us and I am sure he will settle in with no problems at all.”
He will bring a wealth of experience to a side who have struggled with form and injuries. The Rams are currently struggling in 19th place in the Championship and are desperately in need of a change of fortunes. Hughes has a happy knack of popping up with vital goals and Clough and Co. will be hoping he can get vital goals for their club.
