French defender Sylvain Distin has committed his immediate future to Everton FC after penning a one year contract extension with the Toffees. The veteran defender’s contract was due to expire at the end of the current 11/12 season but Everton announced that he had signed on for the 2012/13 season.
Distin has been a key figure at Goodison Park in recent times but it was his mistake that allowed Liverpool back in the FA Cup semifinal after Everton had taken the lead.
Distin, 35, joined Everton from Portsmouth in 2009. He has also represented Newcastle United and Manchester City after his move across the Channel over a decade ago.
