Italian international full back Andreas Dossena is close to completing a move back to his homeland. The former Udinese star, who failed to establish himself at Liverpool has been offered a way out of England by Napoli. A €5 million deal has been agreed between both parties.
Dossena has been out of favour with the English club after the emergence of Fabio Aurelio and Emiliano Insua as the preferred choices at left back. A lot of clubs in Italy including Roma and Juventus showed interest in Dossena’s signature but Napoli sporting director Riccardo Bigon moved quickly to begin talks with Liverpool. Bigon travelled to Merseyside yesterday, to finalise the clauses of the deal and Dossena is widely expected to join Napoli by the end of this week. Dossena’s stint in England was a very unfruitful one, where he scored once in 18 appearances spanning two seasons.
Rafa Benitez is also working very hard to bring in players to Anfield. Liverpool’s season has been marred with poor performances. Rafa is targeting the likes of Galatasaray midfielder Arda Turan, Standard Liege striker Milan Jovanovic, Malaga defender Ivan Gonzales and Crystal Palace youngster Victor Moses with the hope of improving his side’s fortunes in the League.
