Wolverhampton Wanderers have completed the signing of Tongo Doumbia from Rennes. The Malian international has moved to Molineux on a season long loan deal with a view to a permanent switch next summer. The 22 year old is a box to box midfielder and becomes new Wolves boss Stale Solbakken’s third signing of the summer after Frank Nouble and Bjorn Sigurdarson.
Doumbia has already been capped for Mali and has valuable European experience, having competed in the Europa League for Rennes last season. He has been with Rennes since 2009, when he joined the club from Chateauroux.
It is understood that Doumbia’s decision to join Wolves was influenced by his Norwegian team mate at Rennes Alexander Tettey. He has also been previously linked with West Brom and Arsenal.
