Ivorian striker Didier Drogba has confirmed that he will be leaving Chelsea at the end of the current 11/12 season. Speculation had been rife during the last few months regarding the veteran forward’s future at the Bridge, and the 34 year old, who struck Chelsea’s winning penalty against Bayern Munich, announced that he would not be extending his eight year stay in London.
Drogba did not reveal his next destination, rumoured to be China, but did say that he would not sign for a Premier League club out of loyalty to the Blues. He also backed Fernando Torres to come good as his replacement but the latter’s future at the Bridge is itself in doubt following his outburst regarding being placed on the bench for the Champions League final.
Drogba scored 157 goals for Chelsea and is fourth in their all time goal scorers list.
