Championship side Doncaster and League Two side Notts County have both been linked with a move for young Swedish striker Mario Simunovic. The 20 year-old is currently plying his trade at Degerfors and is highly rated. The youngster has already had a trial with the Championship side and will now train with the Notts County.
County have strong links with Swedish football through their director of football Sven Goran-Eriksson and their manager Hans Backe. Eriksson had a previous spell at as boss of Degerfors he is monitoring the youngster progress at the club closely.
He is also still waiting to see if Doncaster are going to follow up their interest in him after his trial but in the meantime the highly promising talent has revealed that he is on his way to Nottingham for a trial at County.
Simunovic told Karlskoga-Kuriren: “Things have been going really fast. I will be given a decision if Doncaster want to take this further by Wednesday at latest. Regardless of what happens I will be going to Notts County to train. The trial is scheduled to be late next week.”
Notts County have allowed goalkeeper Kevin Pilkington to join Blue Square Premier side Luton on a months loan. The veteran has yet to make an appearance for the Magpies this season, due to the presence of Kasper Schmeichel.
