Everton are “A few days away” from completing the season-long loan signing of Valencia midfielder Ever Banega according to manager David Moyes. The Toffee’s secured a work permit for the young Argentine international yesterday and the 21 year-old is expected on Merseyside over the weekend to complete the move. The loan deal could be made permanent if the youngster impresses at Goodison Park.
The Toffee’s boss told Everton’s official website: “Our application for a work permit has been passed and hopefully we will get to see him in a few days.
“He has very good ability and is a little bit similar to Mikel Arteta in lots of ways in that he can retain the ball and pass it.
“Ever is on a year’s loan. If he’s good then we will keep him, if he’s not we can always send him back.”
He already has experience in the Champions League, La Liga and also at international level. He cost Valencia £18million when he moved to Los Ches, but he failed to settle at the Mestalla. The former Boca Juniors ace is highly rated and spent last season on loan at Atletico Madrid. He settled at Atletico and made 24 appearances for the side from the capital.
