Everton reject City bid for Lescott

Manchester City have lodged a £15million bid for Everton defender Joleon Lescott, but the Merseysiders are understood to take turned the offer down. Everton manager david Moyes has already stated numerous times this summer that none of his players are for sale.

The Everton chairman Bill Kenwright has also stated that any final decision will be up to David Moyes, no matter what the finances involved. The 26 year-old has become a major force at the back for Everton in the last few seasons and has forced his way into England contention. Lescott, who can play at centre half or left back also has the handy knack of popping up with crucial goals.

Manchester City manager Mark Hughes could return with a larger bid or a player plus cash deal involving young defender Micah Richards, who is believed to be unsettled at Eastlands with personal problems hampering his form, the player could see it as a fresh start and a chance to rediscover the form which made him an England regular.

However David Moyes seems determined to hang onto Lescott, unless the England international asks for a move, its unlikely that the Scot will sell such a crucial player. Lescott himself has kept quiet over the speculation surrounding him, but hasn’t distanced himself from a move, which could be a sign that hes willing to move to City and double his wages.
