Everton have signed Manchester City’s Brazilian striker Jo on loan till the end of the season. The Toffees were looking for strikers after injuries to Yakubu, Victor Anichebe and James Vaughan left them desperately short of attacking firepower.
Jo moved to City from CSKA Moscow for a reported £18m fee in July 2008. However he has struggled to reproduce the form ( 44 goals in 77 appearances for CSKA) that made him a City target in the first place, and has had to be contented with warming the bench in recent times. With the recent arrival of Craig Bellamy at Eastlands, Jo has fallen further down the pecking order at City.
TSG Hoffenheim were also interested in signing Jo after an injury to star striker Vedad Ibisevic, but the Brazilian chose to remain in England.
