Cesc Fabregas has put Real Madrid and Barcelona on the alert about his availability for next season. The Arsenal captain has admitted that he is unclear about his future.
However he has denied reports suggesting that he already has an agreement to join Barcelona next summer if Sandro Rosell gets elected as the President of the Catalan club.
“I haven’t spoken to anyone,” Fabregas told Radio Marca. “Whatever happens, happens, but at the moment there is nothing.”
“I don’t know if I’ll leave the Premier League next year. I’m happy there and it is an important year for the club.”
But the Spanish international confirmed that he was a subject of interest for the Galacticos in the recently concluded summer transfer window and before that as well.
“Two or three years ago there was some interest (from Real Madrid), but there has never been anything serious with another team since I joined Arsenal.”
Barcelona, however lead the race to sign their former youth team player. Real Madrid recently signed Alonso from Liverpool but are still keen to add another midfielder to their squad.Reports in Spain last month suggested that Barca had an agreement with Arsenal to sign Fabregas in the 2010 summer window. But Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has strongly denied any such claims since then.
Fabregas has made 162 appearances for Arsenal scoring 19 times, but is yet to win any medals with the London based club. With Wenger sticking to his youth policy, if Arsenal fail to collect any silverware this season as well, the Spaniard may seriously consider a move to any of the two clubs to achieve his first piece of silverware.
