Nottingham Forest are expected to open talks with Aston Villa soon as they try to extend Nicky Shorey’s loan deal. Left back Shorey had moved from Villa Park to the City Ground on a one month loan in November 2009 that expired recently.
Shorey made seven appearances for Forest in that period, the last of which came yesterday night in the 2-0 win over Coventry City at home. Forest manager Billy Davies had initially expressed an interest to sign Shorey on a permanent basis if Villa would agree to a fee of somewhere around £3m, but it seems that Forest now want to again take him on loan.
Shorey has struggled to hold down a first place at Villa and has made only three league appearances for the Midlands outfit in the 2009-10 season.
