Former Arsenal and West Ham midfielder Freddie Ljungberg has opted for a switch to the J-League by signing for Shimizu S-Pulse. The Swedish international has signed a one and a half year contract with the club that will see him ply his trade for Japan for the remainder of this season and the next one.
Ljungberg could make his J-League debut in two weeks time when Shimizu take on Jubilo Iwata.
Apart from Arsenal and West Ham, Ljungberg has previously represented Halmstad in his native Sweden, Seattle Sounders and Chicago Fire in the MLS and Glasgow Celtic in the Scottish Premier League.
